Shanhai Program” R&D Backbone Training Class Successfully Held


Striving Forward Together with Unwavering Commitment



From May 17 to 18, the first session of United Laboratories’ “Shanhai Program” R&D Backbone Training Class, themed “Striving Forward Together with Unwavering Commitment,” was successfully held at the Zhongshan Company.


As the Group’s first centralized training program dedicated to R&D backbone talent, this initiative represents an important step in implementing United Laboratories’ systematic talent development strategy and providing targeted empowerment for key R&D personnel. Nearly 60 R&D employees from various units across the Group participated in the training.


Opening Ceremony: Aligning with Development Strategy and Defining Training Objectives



Mr. Tsoi, Chairman of the Board of United Laboratories, put forward three expectations and requirements:

1.In R&D, strive for excellence and aim to be the best;

2. Fully promote the application of AI technology in pharmaceutical R&D and innovation;

3. Build a technology platform focused on the development of first-in-class innovative drugs.


Following the ceremony, Chairman Tsoi held discussions with representatives of R&D backbone employees from various units and took group photos with them.



Group Human Resources Director and Dean Ms. Ma introduced the program, providing a detailed overview of the training themes, project background, core objectives, development framework, participant selection and management, instructor team, and course arrangements. She stated that the program focuses on cultivating R&D backbone talent, empowering professional growth, and supporting the Group’s innovation-driven development.


Customized Curriculum: Multi-dimensional Empowerment and Capability Enhancement


Organized and developed by the Group Human Resources Center, the training program covers 10 courses across two key dimensions: business capabilities and leadership development. The curriculum is closely aligned with the practical needs of R&D positions, combining professional knowledge with hands-on application. It aims to help participants build systematic R&D thinking, enhance comprehensive capabilities, and strengthen their ability to drive innovation.



Mr. Huang, Deputy General Manager of United Biotech, delivered the course “The ‘Brain’ and ‘Hands’ of New Drug R&D — Scientific Project Selection and Full-cycle Management.” The course helped participants establish a scientific framework for project evaluation and develop a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end R&D management.



The company’s BD professionals, Ms. Xu and Mr. Jiang, respectively delivered the courses “Pharmaceutical BD Practice: Functional Advancement and 2026 Deal Review” and “BD Processes and BD from the Perspective of MNCs.” The sessions provided in-depth insights into core BD functions and the latest industry trends, broadening participants’ perspectives on R&D innovation and enhancing the scientific rigor and forward-looking approach of R&D project selection.



Mr. Wang, the Company’s AI R&D Director, delivered the course “AI-driven Drug R&D: Full-chain Innovation from Target Discovery to Clinical Development.” He shared insights into the practical application of cutting-edge technologies in areas such as target identification and clinical research, inspiring participants to embrace innovative approaches in pharmaceutical R&D.



Ms. Liao, Senior Intellectual Property Management Specialist of the Group, delivered the course “Analysis of Regulatory Systems Affecting Drug Exclusivity Periods.” The session helped participants gain a deeper understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks and optimize the timing of R&D project initiation and milestone planning.



Ms. Zhou, Senior Manager of the Group Legal Center, delivered the course “Patent Protection and Risk Prevention in Technological Innovation.” The session strengthened participants’ awareness of patent protection and risk management in R&D innovation activities.



Ms.Tong, the Company’s Legal Counsel, delivered the course “Contract Risk Management in License Transactions.” From both in-licensing and out-licensing perspectives, she analyzed key considerations across various transaction types, focusing on building and enhancing participants’ capabilities in due diligence processes, risk identification, and risk management for project acquisitions and external licensing activities.



Mr. Ling, Senior Manager of the Group’s Clinical Research Center, delivered the course “Science- and Risk-based Management of Innovative Drug Clinical Development.” The session helped participants understand scientific decision-making frameworks and risk management approaches in clinical development, providing professional guidance for the successful advancement of innovative drug R&D projects.




Ms. Chen Mo, Deputy Director of the Medical Marketing Department of the Formulation Marketing Center, delivered the course “From Post-launch to Pipeline Development — Optimizing R&D Strategies through the ‘Rearview Mirror’ Approach.” The session enabled participants to leverage post-marketing product performance reviews to refine and optimize development strategies for ongoing R&D projects.



Mr. Xu, HR Business Partner of the Group Biologics Division, delivered the course “Practical Management Communication Skills — Building High-performance R&D Teams.” Focusing on key challenges in R&D team management, the course enhanced participants’ capabilities in cross-project and cross-functional communication, collaboration, and team building.



Closing Ceremony


On the afternoon of May 18, the training program held its closing ceremony, during which completion certificates were presented to all participants.



R&D backbone talent represents the future driving force behind United Laboratories’ development. The successful completion of the first “Shanhai Program” R&D Backbone Training Class has strengthened the Group’s talent foundation, reinforced the development of its R&D talent pipeline, and empowered high-quality innovation-driven growth.
